About Rosemarie Cox

Rosemarie Rene Cox was born November 16th, 1971 in Syracuse, NY to Thomas and Germaine Cox. The family moved several times as her father pursued a career with Burroughs Corporation - living in Baldwinsville, New York; Manchester, Missouri, Troy, Michigan; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Londonderry, New Hampshire.

The family moved to Londonderry in 1986 and Rosemarie attended St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic church with her family. She joined St. Mark's youth choir and sang with them until her graduation from Londonderry High School. Rosemarie became active in the 'Children of Light' program at St. Marie's church in Manchester and stayed in the program through much of her college years.

Rosemarie attended Plymouth State College where she studied to become a Physical Therapist. While in college Rosemarie worked part-time at several inns at the Waterville Valley Resort. Ultimately she wound up working in the hospitality field becoming a trainer in Hotel management software for Newmarket International and her last position as Conference center manager for the Inn at Mills Falls in Meredith, NH.

rosemariecoxRosemarie was a very outgoing person and connected easily with other people. She had great sense of humor and loved to sing and act. She worked with the Nashua Actors/Singers in "Singing in the Rain" and with other groups in "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat". Her outgoing and happy nature allowed her to touch people's lives even when they only knew her for a short time.

Rosemarie died in a car accident on May 9th, 2003. Below are a few of the many e-mails the family received from people she knew and worked with. The sentiments from these and others are how Rose is remembered by those who knew her.

From Darlene Foley – "I worked with Rose for a short time at the Inn at Mills Falls. In the few months that I knew her she just touched my heart. Rose was a bright spot in my day. She was always kind and had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that could brighten anyone's day."

From Mandi Loomis in Little Rock Arkansas – "A beautiful, shining light has been moved from the earth to the heavens in this, the loss of our gorgeous Rose. Although I only knew her briefly through working with her at Newmarket, we bonded immediately and shared the philosophy of living life to its fullest. Rose took advantage of the great things that life had to offer and will be missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing her".

From Zein Kraus in Houston, Texas – "Rose, I had the pleasure of meeting you last April for two days, and in that short amount of time you left a lasting impression – you were a delight to speak to and your humor is what I remember most! Your family could not have asked for a better angel to look after them... take care my friend.

Dave Holt in Somersworth, NH – "Rose will live forever in my memories. Her smile, her wit, her empathy, and her compassion are rare and beautiful things – yet only a facet in the diamond that was Rose."

In loving memory of Rosemarie, St. Mark's Knights of Columbus council awards at least one scholarship for $500 to a high school senior, and if finances allow, additional awards. In years when we have a major fundraising event, like this concert, we expect to award at least two seniors, one from St. Mark's and another for a student in our local community outside of St. Mark's. We did just that two years ago when we had a successful concert at the Stockbridge with Brian Templeton and his band.
